DOD print module for variable data and card personalization
High-precision drop-on-demand printing for cards and tickets
The DOD printing module from Rinas is a high-resolution drop-on-demand printing system with piezoelectric technology and an integrated LED UV curing system.
It was specially developed for the personalization of plastic cards, RFID cards, and paper tickets, and perfectly complements Rinas coding systems.
With a print width of 54 mm and resolutions up to 600 × 1,200 dpi, the DOD printer delivers razor-sharp text, graphics, barcodes, and 2D codes—monochrome or CMYK.
Variable data printing technology with UV curing
The DOD print module uses thermal drop-on-demand technology for precise application of ink onto paper or plastic cards.
The integrated LED UV curing ensures immediate curing of the printing ink – scratch-resistant, durable, and perfect for applications in the field of ID, customer, and access cards.
The transport speed of the cards under the print head can be individually adjusted. This allows the ink quantity to be precisely matched to the material and production speed. The system is therefore ideal for series production and variable data printing processes in personalization lines.
Technical advantages of the
DOD print module
- Drop-on-demand technology for variable data
- LED UV curing for instantly dry, abrasion-resistant prints
- Resolution up to 600 × 1,200 dpi
- 54 mm print width for ID-1 cards
- Compatible with PVC, PET, ABS, and paper
- Automatic ink shortage warning
- Heating system for ink temperature stabilization
- Supports graphics, barcodes, 2D and matrix codes
- Easy integration via TCP/IP
- Low maintenance and durable
Economical and intelligent printing solution
The DOD print module is designed for economical continuous use. Integrated sensors monitor the ink supply, and an automatic ink shortage warning reduces downtime.
The software supports layout design, data record management, and label creation—including fonts, graphics, 1D, and 2D barcodes. A heated ink system keeps viscosity constant, while the innovative channel pressure design ensures a consistent supply to all nozzles.
This minimizes clogging and ink residue. Communication is via TCP/IP, allowing the DOD printer to integrate seamlessly into existing equipment or Rinas systems such as CS-LWR and CS-SWR.

Sustainable printing technology
The DOD print module operates energy-efficiently through the use of LED UV technology and precisely controlled ink usage.
The modular design and long service life of the print heads reduce maintenance costs and consumables.
This means that the system fits perfectly into Rinas’s Think Green concept for sustainable production.

Frequently asked questions about CS laser coding systems
A CS Laser coding system is a modular machine for personalizing and coding cards. It combines laser engraving with magnetic, RFID, and chip coding in a compact system and is suitable for plastic, wood, and metal cards.
The system supports ID-1 card formats (85.7 × 54 mm) with a thickness of 0.5 to 1.2 mm. It can process cards of all colors, including transparent and metallic ones.
Laser engraving is performed using an integrated layout editor that transfers data, text, or graphics precisely onto the card surface. The process is contactless, permanent, and abrasion-resistant, eliminating the need for printing inks or foils.
The system is low-maintenance and follows the Rinas Think Green concept. Only wear parts are replaced; cleaning and extraction of laser residues can be carried out by the user.
