Laser engraving and personalization of cards
Laser marking for plastic, wood, and metal
How laser engraving works
In laser personalization, the card material is irradiated with a highly focused laser beam.
Depending on the material, the surface reacts with a color change, oxidation, or engraving. This creates a high-contrast, permanently durable marking. The process is contactless and is also suitable for sensitive or textured surfaces.
An integrated layout editor allows you to precisely define engraving fields, text, images, and barcodes—individually for each card.
Advantages of laser personalization
- Permanent and abrasion-resistant engravings
- High precision for text, graphics, and security features
- Contactless process – no mechanical wear
- No use of ink, foil, or chemicals
- Low maintenance (only cleaning and vacuuming)
- Energy efficient thanks to modern laser technology
- Integration into personalization systems (e.g., Rinas CS-Laser)
- Suitable for plastic, wood, metal, and paper cards

Frequently asked questions about laser personalization
Laser personalization is a contactless process in which a laser beam engraves text, graphics, or security features directly onto the card material.
Plastic, wood, metal, and other materials with smooth surfaces. The engraving depth and contrast effect depend on the material.
Yes. Engraving permanently alters the surface of the material and is resistant to abrasion, UV light, and moisture.
